Abstract

Dear George,

I'm not sure if I ever told you about the day you delivered the keys to the kingdom to me. The transfer was made in a fifty-minute class, with the keys functioning to organize pieces of information that had, up to that point, only swirled around in my mind in a confusing, dissociated manner. In one lecture, you clarified the paradigm of U.S. society, its organizing principles. And, as a result, you irrevocably changed the trajectory of my life.
