“Artificial Peckerwood” will be the title, tho I haven’t quite finished writing the story yet. It’s about a nine-year-old boy and the grandfather who raised him after the grandfather’s daughter, who had run away from home chasing a bad man, returned home sick with a new baby in her arms and died, so the grandfather who lived all alone after his wife had died and daughter disappeared was suddenly a father again and no choice but to raise a kid, raise one in the deep country, deep rural isolation and ignorant exile of a cabin in the woods the grandfather had chosen for himself after life had deprived him of the only people he loved.
